About Service International

The great cicties of Bogota and Bucaramanga in Colombia and Guayaquil, Rio Bamba and Cuenca in Ecuador are the away bases for SI.

Next Service International Session September 2010

Are you in the 18 – 30 age bracket? If so, we invite you to give one academic year - September through Spring - to learn, grow, go and serve. There’s a ton of great programs out there but we believe SI is totally unique!

SI is all about Team Work and learning how to contribute and serve, 24-7.

SI has three phases.

Phase One - SI is hosted by Church of The King and based in the beauty of Upstate New York’s Adirondack Mountain region, SI starts with orientation and in-house training, covering Personal Discipleship, Basics of Christian Belief, Developing a Christian World View, Inter Cultural Studies, and all with a major in Character! Teaching and oversight will be given by members of the coordinating team of Alliance International Ministries with regular ministry visits from Team members. Add to this a weekly mentoring program from young Christian professionals in our region who represent the fields of Education, Finance, Medicine, Law, even a High School Guidance Counselor, and you’ve got a real opportunity to put some God-given values in place.

But SI classrooms often tear the walls down and go "on the road" when the team travels over 3,000 miles to learn and serve in New York, Michigan, Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania - and who knows where else!?

Phase One continues with SI members going “Outward Bound” across our region’s lakes and mountains under the supervision of ER Dr. Douglas Girling who is a champion tri-athlete, Sahara & Arctic Ultra Marathoner and a mountain rescue team trainer. Why so much fun? Remember, Service International is created to stretch every member to become “RFA” – “Ready For Anything” you might be called to in future years whether that be across the planet or as a dedicated member of the local church back home.

Phase Two After the Christmas break SI moves to bases in Ecuador where the teams will be hosted by great churches in which they’ll intern in medical facilities, family centers, schools, indigenous and urban ministries, etc. So get used to the idea of snowy mountains, red hot beeches, massive cities and tiny villages... and just about everything in between! Truly a life-changing season.

Phase Three sees SI flying north to Colombia for service projects in the great city of Bogotá where our Oasis Church helps the poorest families and many with no family at all -  and Promised Land Church serving the crowded and challenging south of the city. Next it's north to Iglesia de Las Naciones (Church of The Nations) in "la ciudad bonita" - Bucaramanga. Then back to the States for a last tour and Graduation!

Only you can decide if Service International is for you. So why not talk to parents, pastors and friends and pray about stepping into Service International…

A WORD FROM CRAIG DAVIDSON

Craig DavidsonSome say young people don’t know what to do with their lives, even after spending years (and a substantial fortune) in college.

I think differently! I believe you can hear from God as clearly as any previous generation. And I believe God is still speaking - loud and clear. You just need to give God an opportunity to catch your attention and set you on track.

I am a graduate of Service International and I can tell you the ‘service’ bit is intentional. Check it out in history: the most important things, done by the greatest people, have always been performed through service. Jesus said: ‘The greatest among you will be your servant.” So, if it’s still all about you, SI could be a shock...but a healthy one!

In SI you will definitely be stretched, spirit, soul and body and you’ll experience places and people that change your outlook on life for ever. If this appeals to you, then pray and talk with your parents, your pastor and your friends - and send for an Application Pack.

See you soon?
Craig Davidson
Service International Director
